Photographer, Barbara Morgan exhibited 60 photographs at the Lowe Art Gallery, at Syracuse University in 1983. The photographs are from two different but interrelated bodies of work that Morgan has produced over the past 50 years. Represented will be a selection of Morgan's dance photographs of Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Jose Limon and a selection of her photomontages. Both bodies of work encompass the same search for meaning-within-form but arrive at it in entirely different ways. Peter Bunnell has written 'whether it be in the poetic aspiration to symbolize man's spirit or in the challenge to manipulate the physical craft of her medium, Barbara Morgan has exemplified, as only few others have, the true liberality of personal freedom.'
