There are moments, the mood of which suggests something beyond the immediate. They encourage reverie and bring back memories, possibly of things not yet experienced. The senses are teased, but not satisfied. The elements of the moment - the time, the place, the feeling - create an open-ended gestalt that the mind is free to complete. Typically, a late afternoon in the country, or a painting such as Edward Hopper's 'Early Sunday Morning' or 'Nighthawks', produces such moments.I propose to experiment with such moments and their translation into black and white photographs.'
