I have long been interested in landscapes. Whether the landscape is 'outside' or 'inside,' my interest has been with photographic framing and detail. The unique believability of photographs, which gives a viewer the ability to 'see' much more information than that presented in the picture frame, has also been a major concern. In some recent work in black-and-white, parts of my body were part of the landscape I photographed - more in the sense that 'yes, the photographer was there, see there's his foot', than in the sense that the bodily intrusion into the frame was 'part' of the landscape. The idea of really doing something to the framed landscape before I collect it, the possibility of introducing a part of myself and paraphernalia into the image frame to form a link making object/photographer/photograph one, is an exciting one I would like to explore.
