Prior to his time as Artist-in-Residence at Light Work, Bill Ravenesi traveled around the country supported by the Ford Foundation, photographing city slums. For several years Ravenesi has been working on documentary projects of farmworkers, both in California and in his home state of Massachusetts. Working with a view camera, Ravenesi's photographs display a great deal of understanding for and about his subjects. He will often spend long periods of time with his subjects before making only a few exposures.
Ravenesi's work has been published in PICTURE magazine and is in the permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Fine Arts Center at University of Massachusetts, and the Polaroid Corporation.
